11 Inch 5000psi Shaffer Annular Bop Oilfield Drilling
What is annular bop
Used in conjunction with the hydraulic control system, the Annular Bop seals off the annulus of different sizes when pipes are in use in the hole. An Annular Bop can also seal off the annular space which is formed by Kelly, coring tool, cables, wire rope etc. and wellbore when no pipe is in it. When used in conjunction with the pressure-regulating valve and accumulator, the annular Blowout Preventer allows snubbing service.
High-grade ram rubber core and side flange sealing can meet extreme circumstances, such as high and low temperatures or acidic conditions.
How the annular BOP work
Close – When the hydraulic oil is pumped into the extended port, the element inside will be lifted and squeezed into the pipe/tubular.
Open – On the other hand, if the hydraulic fluid is pumped into the retract port, the element will be pushed down resulting in releasing the tubular.
Annular vs RAM BOP
The annular blowout preventer performs several functions in drilling operations. It seals the annular space between the tubing, casing, and drill pipes. It also helps maintain the seal when the casing, tubing, or drill pipes are out of the drill hole. Unlike RAM blowout preventers, annular BOPs can seal various pipes of different sizes.
